Syllabus of Tai chi and qi gong classes

A simple and powerful Tai-chi based on solid energy bases. Indeed, this course integrates an in-depth knowledge of energy and the body.

Built in Russian dolls, it integrates the essential notions of chi kung (qi gong) as well as advanced techniques intertwined with each other. The course remains accessible to all: Beginners as well as advanced students can certainly find what they are looking for.

The goal is to teach you how energy naturally flows through the body. From the inner posture to the outer posture, from static to dynamic. Then to integrate space and directions into the movement.

This course is therefore for anyone who seeks to release their deep nature and better understand the energy in the body and as a body. It is a course that is ideal for strengthening your roots, developing healthy boundaries and stabilizing emotions. On the other hand, this is not the right class to exert yourself physically.

Typical course flow:

  1. Inner smile;
  2. Qi gong activation and chi massage;
  3. Qigong for warming and self-healing;
  4. Qi gong for the spine;
  5. Qi gong of the structure (iron shirt);
  6. Form of Tai-chi qi gong / Tai-chi of the masters;

Tai-chi of the masters / Tai-chi chi kung

The form of tai chi that I teach, master taichi or taiji-qigong is the one developed by Mantak Chia. I teach it unofficially after having practiced it for more than 15 years regularly.

It consists of a few repeated movements in the 4 directions and on both sides.

It is a simple and powerful tai chi based on solid energy bases.

This tai chi is an integration of chi kung in movement and directions. By adding a relationship with the inner Yin/Yang polarities and, for the more advanced, the integration of environmental and cosmic energies.

The movements of this form of tai chi are learned quite quickly and easily for a beginner level. This makes it possible to quickly integrate the energy dimensions. In addition, it is possible to practice it in environments with limited space.

Finally, it is possible for students to obtain books and training videos to deepen this world-renowned form.

Qigong from the Tai Chi and Qigong course

The energy work practiced in the heart corresponds to the bases of most of the teachings of qi gong. The iron shirt postures are those taught by Mantak Chia.

The exercises for the spine come from the qi gong of the three treasures of Philip Lai.

Activation and warming qigong is a blend of techniques brought up by Barbara Ann Brennan, Mantak Chia and Philip Lai.

Through the movements, certain energy techniques are specific to me and others also come from two other of my teachers: Marc Bériault and Rock Berger.

In the courses I explain the choice of techniques, their impact and their reasons for being from an energy point of view.

The qi gong course syllabus

Qigong has been practiced for several hundred years in China. And with more than a thousand distinct shapes, the majority of which were created in the 80s and 90s during the “qi gong fever”, there is plenty to get lost in.

The need therefore arose to, on the one hand, compare and evaluate the different forms of qi gong and, on the other hand, develop a qi gong which is suitable for large-scale group teaching while being effective and safe.

From these steps emerged the Jianshen Qigong and Zhineng Qigong. Two approaches now recognized worldwide.

Jianshen qi gong

Jianshen Qi Gong focuses on meridian energy and offers traditional forms with thousands of years of history and culture.

The first level of jianshen qi gong is the “Ba Duan Jin” form. The eight precious movements (brocade pieces). This form is one of the oldest and best known. Once mastered, practicing the form takes approximately 12 minutes. It specifically works different acupuncture points and meridians and is done in a single fluid and precise movement.

The first part of the course will serve, with these exercises, to open and stretch the body into a coherent whole.

zhineng qi qong

Zhineng qi gong, “wisdom qi gong”, emphasizes original energy (yuan qi) and its integration. Communion with the environment, the cosmos and the absolute is its cornerstone.

The movements of this qi gong are light and most of the effort is made with visualization and attention. Group practice significantly increases its effectiveness, it was designed for this purpose.

It allows a first contact with the original energy and promotes communion with the universe. In other words the dissolution of the ego and contact with the reality of the true self united with the cosmos (beyond and below memories and beliefs). It is recognized for the development of energetic perception, intuition and creativity. It leads to deep relaxation and an expanded awareness of oneself and the world.

These exercises will be the heart of the course and will serve to broaden the horizon of your consciousness and touch the absolute of yourself. Everything will be explained theoretically and course notes will be provided to fully understand what is being discussed.

Synergy of jianshen and zhineng

While Jianshen helps to trace and clearly define the rivers of qi (meridians) through light gymnastics, Zhineng irrigates and aerates the entire field of energy. Which gives them a nice synergy.

The course will therefore focus on understanding spiritual awakening through the free circulation of original energy in the body. All supported by theoretical understanding.

Typical course of a qi gong class:

  • Preparation, stretching, shaking and percussion
  • Ba Duan Jun (Jianshen – 1st shape)
  • Peng Qi Guan Ding Fa (Zhineng – 1)st method)
  • Additional exercises when time permits

Qigong and me

Qigong has been a long-time love of mine. Since 2003, so more than 20 years already, I have been practicing it regularly.

But it is since 2008 that my practice has been transformed through my self-healing and the perception of energies.

Since then, I have been busy identifying the essentials in the different qi gong practices and choosing exercises that embody human potential by strengthening its nature, its evolution and its health. When I have the opportunity, I interact with instructors, energy practitioners and qigong masters.

My goal is to practice and transmit an energy shaping that is both aesthetic and devoid of superfluity.

For several years now, I have arrived at a relatively stable and very effective form that I practice regularly and share with my friends and students. This is what I teach in the Tai Chi Qi Gong class.

Continuous development

As explained, I interact with other instructors as much as possible. In addition, I continue to educate myself, read and deepen my knowledge on the subject.

Besides, a few months ago, I started instructor training with theQuebec Qigong Institute. The qi gong course (jiansheng and zhineng) is the result. This allows me to offer a wider range of techniques and deepen my knowledge of Chinese energetics. The Qigong Institute of Quebec is internationally recognized for the quality of its training and I am very satisfied with it so far.
